     Meet our President

“Every day in the United States alone, an average of 576 Deaf people die. Of those 576 Deaf, only about 57 have ever heard theGospel of Jesus Christ during their life time.Of the 57 Deaf it is estimated that 6 Deaf people becoming “Born Again Followers of Christ”. Only 6 Deaf people out of 576 who die in a single day touch Heaven. This is what presses Blann to reach those who have not heard.”

Founder and President of Deaf Evangelism And Fellowship, Rev.Steve Blann has traveled extensively throughout North, Central and SouthAmerica, Cuba and Argentina, establishing new Deaf Ministries, encouraging existing ministries, equipping lay people and ministers to reach Deaf people for Christ.

Blann has 30 plus years of experience in Deaf Ministry providing leadership that comes from a strong, clear, burden placed upon him by events in 1994 – a burden and calling to ‘Evangelize Deaf People’ globally. From that, God has daily pressed Blann with the souls of Deaf people crying out for someone to help them understand about Jesus Christ. This burden for Deaf people still drives him today.

In 1993 and 1994, Blann approached many organizations forming Mission trips that targeted Hearing people. Told time and again that he would not be able to work with Deaf people on those trips, Blann chose not to join but began to seek God’s vision for reaching the Deaf. Through prayer and several meetings with a Christian brother in 1995, Blann established a Mission Board that would reach the Deaf. Today that organization is known as ‘Deaf Evangelism And Fellowship’ or D.E.A.F..

Growing up in Syracuse, New York, God brought Deaf people into Blann’s life with the first time being around 7 or 8 years of age. At the age of ten, Blann became a “Born Again Follower of Christ". Two years later he understood God calling him into the ministry. However, it was not until 1983 that Blann truly began serving. That early seed planted when he was a child grew to the desire to eventually learn Sign Language from a Missionary sent by the Bill Rice Ranch in Tennessee to his local church. Blann took that opportunity while recovering from two broken bones in his leg to become immersed in study. In 1983 after only two weeks of classes, Blann helped establish the Deaf Ministry at North Syracuse Baptist Church. Blann was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in 1989 and Ordained in 1995.

Blann married Sherry Yvonne Todd in 1966, and they had two children, Stephanie and Scott. At the young age of ten, Scott died from Ewing’s Sarcoma. Stephanie’s two children live in New Jersey and New York.
