Why A Deaf Christian Camp?

    – Only 2 percent of Deaf Population attend church.

    – Allow campers to have first experience with Christian environment and Deaf Christian role Models.

    – To share the Love of Jesus Christ and teach and preach the passion of God’s Word to groups of all kinds.

    – Spiritual development and outreach.

    – Builda relationship between hearing and Deaf family members to be closer to oneanother & provide God’s Love without concern for language barriers. Grow stronger, closer to God.
The closer we become to God, the more love we have to give toothers. We need to strengthen mixed Deaf/Hearing families unlike the worldwhich tries to diagnose and divide them.

    – Campers can enjoy the wonder of God’s creation and beauty of nature and learn outdoor skills to the fullest extent.

    – Mostcamps only offer  one or two weeks during summer. We want to offer a year round camp.

Develop social awareness and learn life skills and motivate self-discovery.

They will remember for a lifetime and they are our future.

Strengthen Deaf communities in America: This cultural group of people need to see Christ.

Fellowship is most natural among those who share a common visual language and share a common daily experience.

    – MostChurches are not equipped to minister to the Deaf.

Continuity of interpreters within a church can be an issue. This is the reason why many stopped attending church.

Children need to know that God has created them for His glory and in His image to serve others.

“Faith in Action”

Praying Hands

Ladies Bible Study

We have an average of about eight women weekly. We are trying to go to different homes weekly with a covered dish prior to our study, and fellowship with somenew women in the area.
Recently we just finished up a series of “Armor Of God”lessons. Now we are focusing on the book of Esther. We are learning to be morelike Christ daily as role models and women of responsibility.
One thing aboutEsther is she was not to reveal her religious beliefs . It is sad! But later God’s plan was revealed for her to save her people. Faith in Action women arelearning to reveal who we are
and continue reach out to other Deaf women and wehope to grow more in this way. Pray as we continue to grow together and mature in Christ, As well as reaching more women in Syracuse area.

Do pray for one of our members, David and Laurie DeMaria recently had baby girl and it has condition of Hip Dysplasia,  she is in a harness now. Pray it will heal, and be corrected, and comfortable and peaceful.

Inside the Development Plan!

Lodge Plan!

CHM floor plan 1

CHM floor plan 2

Maybe you have been wondering how we have been progressing along here. Let us update you since our last newsletter when we announced we b
ecame a non-profit 501-3-c.Last year we had a slow year,
but God blessed. We decided to try to design adevelopment plan ourselves. We were able to have Falso Creativity help us. Beverly was able to work with Mark Falso to develop the vision of afloor plan
for the lodge and bunk house. We are working on developing abusiness portfolio to be able to receive funding and support for building the camp. Mark helped us with Cad drawings  and renderings.
With Pencil and Color, a story board developed with allpieces put together just like you see on HGTV! We want to express thanks thatsomeone donated Auto sketch program for Beverly to work with.
    She has a degreein Drafting.

Also, we just had our Annual Mission Board banquet. We were able to display the floor plan and exterior design thatMark helped render with. We are praying about considering asking Mark tobecomepart of our board with us. Allow us to time tell you about him: he has his own business, Falso Creativity, independentdesigner, artist, and drafter. We also are working with S.C.O.R.E (Service Corps of Retired Executives).
We are asking for free advice on how to developour Camp portfolio with a development plan etc.  We plan to meet with them thismonth with a rough draft. Also, we submitted an application to
    SUNY-ESF
(Collegeof Environmental Science and Forestry). They have a service called The Centerof Community Design Research. SUNY Students are allowed to take on a project asan internship as well as help us detail our design. They can help build thegroundwork for the future as well as establish work sessions with community leaders to help us gather the appropriate faculty to address the development ofour camp plan.
This will help us meet the criteria of State and Federal camprequirements. Pray they will approve the project, they are showing interest. Weplan to send our floor plan and property map to help them process
theapplication.  If it is God’s will for this, we pray you will consider supporting us financially. We wanted to shareour progress in a more visual way so you could see the way God has been workingin this
ministry. Our desire is to reach the lost Harvest. God has blessed uswith the property and we need your help to continue develop the plan and fundsto build the camp to serve Him.

More of God’s Blessings

What’s up? We’d like to share another of God’s Blessings! We are expecting again! Our baby girl is due in mid June. We are surprised and excited. Beverly had been going through
the winter not knowing if she was or not. She asked the Doctor a few times what was wrong, but they said “other issues”. But then she gained thirty pound in March and  realized
something was happening so she convinced the doctor to test more and found out we are expecting in mid June. We are happy it was not a health issue, but Praise the Lord it’s a baby girl.
We plan to name her Christine Faith Campbell. Our other two children are excited and learning to see they will have another sister. Also, We have been home schooling our children
this school year. Colin is doing very well in kindergarten and Catie is doing Preschool. A homeschooling conference is coming up the end of May. We have been on various trips and are part of
LEAH (Loving Education at Home). Also we are members of HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association).  We meet other home schooling children monthly for activities and fun trips.
We are using Bob Jones curriculum. Beverly was able to teach a Sign Language session at Home school Co-op in Odenia Area.

Cattie and Colin both love Awana at church and are doing well with their Bible verses. Continue to pray for our health and for the new arrival this June. We also want to thank supporter who
helped us fix the transmission on our van. William has a part-time job at the Post office and pray it would become a full-time position.  Pray as we continue to seek support and find churches
willing to allow us to share our vision and ministry with them. Pray for our home church to support us too.

William is teaching DeafSunday school and Beverly is  teaching “Faith in Action” Bible study weekly. Pray we will be able to drive to church weekly as it takes a good chunk of our budget due
to the price of gas. We travel at least an hour and fifteen minutes one way to church and round trip about 104 miles. We make the trip at least three times weekly to church. So pray as we continue
to seek support with gas going up. We drive a total 312 miles weekly to go North Syracuse Baptist Deaf Church.

Result of 2006

We attended the June camp in Machias, NY with Lois Dungan of Christian Deaf Ministries and Jim Bracelin from Silent Word Ministries. We had 30-35 campers and the Theme
“Who is depending on your Vision?” brought our attention on where your vision is and who is watching. Then camp in September was held in Rome, NY had about 20 campers. Praise the Lord
an 80 year old, Lois, accepted Christ and we plan to attend her baptism soon. Jim Sloan was the speaker has been working with Deaf 50 years. The theme was “Staying on Track” based on Psalm40:11.

In Nov., we attended Deaf Nation Expo in Rochester, NY. We handed out free Bibles and tracts to over 2,400 plus people attending Deaf Nation. We displayed our camp plan and shared
the gospel with those who came to our booth. We got our basic floor plan of the Lodge and bunk houses drafted and now are hoping to work with SUNY-ESF for the future Master plan and portfolio.

Pray we will press on with the work we have done and be trusting Him above for wisdom and help with the process in order and do what we need to do to meet the requirement of
development of Deaf Camp. More support and churches ask us to share the ministry.

What’s coming up?

What’s coming up during the next couple of months? Adjust to a new baby and looking forward to Spring! We had a long winter and it was the coldest we have in a while. We managed to cope with it .

We are still involved doing actives committee with the Deaf church. We are looking forward to attending Fantastic Saturday with Silent Word ministries in May at Buckley Road Baptist Church.
Then the Home Schooling conference. William will help interpret this. In August we hope to do an outreach  taking a group to Six Flags. Then Deaf Nation will be November 17, this year in Secaucus, NJ..
Then we have two camps, one in June and one in September. In the meantime, we’re working on the Portfolio for the camp development plan and meeting with S.C.O.R.E and SUNY-ESF.
Once they accept the project , we will be excited to see how the plan progresses along for us. So pray as we continue to seek funds and support for the construction of the camp. Pray we find more to fill up
    the new year 2007.

Also, Andrew Krull, the webmaster, offered to update our website. We hope some of you have been visiting our website to see more of our vision and what we believe in. It is a blessing to have his help
with our computer problem. We had a virus on our computer that limited our work. We are thankful we have it back working properly now. Thanks go to Andrew Krull. Pray as he finishes up his
home schooling this year. He has been taking up advance college courses as well.
